Institution
Founded in 1880, Bucks County Historical Society collects, preserves, and interprets the history and culture of Bucks County and the Delaware Valley Region. It operates the Mercer Museum, the Research Library and the Fonthill Museum. It is the custodian of a regionally and nationally significant collection of tools and artifacts which illuminate the history of pre-industrial America to c. 1850. The Library Collections also focus on two related subject areas: early American technology, culture, and folk art; and the life and work of Henry Chapman Mercer.
The Mercer Museum Research Library offers patrons free Wi-Fi, a photocopier, outlets for laptops, microfilm readers, and is handicapped accessible. Admission to the Mercer Museum Research Library is included either in a museum entrance ticket or with a Bucks County Historical Society membership. Members get unlimited free admission to the Library in addition to the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle. For current hours and admission pricing please visit the museum’s website.
