Biography from the American Architects and Buildings database

Associated with both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Columbia University, William R. Ware was a prominent architectural educator in the late nineteenth century. Although not a Philadelphia architect, his influence on the education of the architect touched Philadelphia through the graduates of both MIT and Columbia University.

Both he and his partner Henry Van Brunt were products of the atelier associated with Richard Morris Hunt in New York, an atelier which also helped train Frank Furness.
